Leaving the TV on isn't training — it's a distraction that doesn't address the underlying panic. He hasn't learned that being alone is safe and boring. Start with 30-second absences. Leave the room, close the door, wait 30 seconds, return and act neutral. No big greeting — that reinforces the idea that your absence is a big deal. Repeat 5 times daily for three days. Then increase to 1 minute. Then 2, then 5, then 10. If he howls during a session, you increased duration too fast. Drop back to the previous level and build more reps. Huskies are vocal and dramatic, so expect slow progress — most need 6-8 weeks to handle 2-hour absences calmly. Tire him out before you leave: 45-60 minutes of hard exercise will lower his baseline anxiety. If he's still howling at 10-minute absences after two months of consistent work, talk to your vet about anti-anxiety meds. Some cases need chemical support to break the cycle.
