Three focused days of skill-building. Each session is 5–15 minutes. Start whenever you're ready.
Why this first: your dog jumps because it gets attention — even negative attention counts. This skill teaches them that four paws on the floor earns what jumping never could.
Turn your back the instant your dog jumps. No eye contact, no words, no pushing down.
When four paws hit the floor, turn immediately and give calm, warm praise.
Stay consistent — one jump that gets a reaction undoes ten correct reps. Don't negotiate.
your dog will try floor-paws at least twice today. Mark those moments emphatically.
📅 4-5 repetitions at each natural greeting moment
Why this first: Sit becomes your dog's default polite behavior — the thing they do when they want anything at all.
Hold a treat above your dog's nose and slowly arc it back over their head.
Their rear will drop naturally. Say "sit" the moment it touches ground, then reward.
Make sit the price for everything: meals, outdoor time, play, greetings.
your dog will start offering unprompted sits, especially near food. That's exactly right.
📅 Ongoing — use sit as currency all day
Why this first: Doors are peak excitement for your dog. This session makes calm the literal key — the door only opens for settled energy.
Approach the door. If your dog surges or jumps, step back immediately and wait.
Ask for a sit. When they sit calmly, slowly reach for the door handle.
If they break position, remove your hand. Repeat until the door opens to a sitting dog.
your dog will hold a sit at the door by your third practice today.
